New Spring Promo Arrivals (In Bright New Colors)!

Well folks, spring is barreling in this month and, along with it, the promo of new releases for marching band from Alfred Music Publishing. Whoa!...before you punch delete on this email, hear me out...not only have I been a college director for 25 years, I am also married to a band director, so I know you might not be ready to think marching band just yet. Not when there are just a few more spring festivals, concerts, trips, bake sales, car washes, auxiliary auditions, proms, banquets, performances, spectacles, productions, parades (isn’t there always one more?), happenings, grades, testings...well, you all get the “picture.” That being said, I still want to focus your much-divided attention to the 2011-2012 Alfred Marching and Pep Band promotional recording/booklet that you should have recently received. (If you haven’t received yours, send an email to customerservice@alfred.com).
As usual, I opened my copy of the promo, popped the MP3 CD in my computer (it also works in players that read MP3 files), and transferred the contents to my iTunes library, eager to hear the work of my colleagues and to shop for charts for my college pep bands. Once again, I am blown away by the creative work of my writing colleagues at Alfred, the variety of titles available, and the consistent quality of each arrangement within the series’ parameters. Two charts from our newly designed Premiere Series really grabbed my attention this year: Victor’s chart on Maynard’s "Coconut Champagne" and Shane Porter’s rip-roaring version of "The Time Warp." While I doubt many sports fans are ready for a full blown Rocky Horror Picture Show halftime production, this creative arrangement is simply smokin’ and...
